RESUMO

With extraordinary mechanical properties, articular cartilage is one of the most critical factors in human movement and load transmission. With the increase of sports participation and population aging, more and more patients suffer from cartilage injury and related diseases. Accurate acquisition of mechanical properties for articular cartilage is the key process of cartilage injury and functional evaluation. In this paper, the research progress of indirect estimation for mechanical properties of articular cartilage was summarized. Furthermore, some new perspectives were prospected on mechanical characterization of articular cartilage.

Objective:To investigate and compare the attitudes of clinical nurses and nursing managers towards float nurse, and to provide references for the implementation of nurse mobile practice mode in China.Methods:By stratified sampling, the survey was conducted on clinical nurses and nursing managers of 15 tertiary hospitals in 9 prefecture-level cities in Fujian.Results:A total of 9 389 valid questionnaires were recovered, including 525 for nursing managers and 8 864 for clinical nurses. By comparing the attitudes between two groups, it was found that nursing managers who knew more about mobile practice were more willing to practice floating practice, including 50.86% (267/525) heard and inquired, 49.14% (258/525) willing to float, than clinical nurses who paid less attention, including 32.41% (2 873/8 864) heard and inquired, 38.87% (3 445/8 864) willing to float. Multi-factor analysis showed that among nursing managers, those with a bachelor’s degree or above was more willing to float. While among clinical nurses, young, unmarried, side, bachelor degree or above were more willing to float. On the choice of flow mode, nursing managers were inclined to float between hospitals (46.54%, 215/525), but clinical nurses were prone to community float (42.45%, 3 142/8 864). Furthermore, nursing managers had higher requirements on the professional title and seniority of float nurse, and 39.43% (207/525) believe that the professional title should be supervisor, while 81.71% (429/525) thought that length of service as a nurse should be 5 years or more.Conclusion:There are differences between clinical nurses and nursing managers in such aspects as the intention of floating practice, obstacles and guarantee factors, cognition and selection of demanders, and acceptance of practice threshold. The above differences should be fully considered in the trial of the "Internet + Nursing" floating practice mode for nurses.

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the effect of inner-heating acupuncture on apoptosis of chondrocytes and expression of Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 in rats with knee osteoarthritis (KOA).@*METHODS@#A total of 32 rats were divided into a normal group, a model group, a control treatment group and a treatment group by random number grouping method, 8 rats in each one. The rats in the normal group received no intervention. The rats in the remaining three groups adopted modified Videman method to develop KOA model, the ankle joint of left posterior leg was fully extended and fixed with a resin bandage for 6 weeks. After successful modeling, the rats in the model group received no intervention. The rats in the control treatment group were treated with medium-frequency pulse electrotherapy. The rats in the treatment group were treated with inner- heating acupuncture, 30 min each treatment, once a day, five days per week, and totally 3-week treatment was given. After 3 weeks, the damaged cartilage tissue was collected, and HE staining was used to observe the pathological changes of the cartilage tissue of the knee joint. ELISA was used to detect the content of cytochrome-C in the tissue homogenate supernatant. The chondrocytes in damaged cartilage tissue were isolated, flow cytometer was used to detect the changes of apoptosis and mitochondrial membrane potential. The mRNA and protein expression of Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 in chondrocytes were detected by real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) and Western blot (WB), respectively.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the normal group, the damage of cartilage tissue in the model group was significant, and the expression level of Cyt-C in the homogenate supernatant of damaged cartilage tissue was increased (<0.01); the chondrocyte apoptosis was increased significantly (<0.01); the chondrocyte mitochondrial membrane potential was decreased significantly (<0.01); the mRNA and protein expression of Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 was increased significantly (all <0.01). Compared with the model group, the cartilage injury in the control treatment group and the treatment group was significantly relieved; the expression level of Cyt-C in the supernatant of damaged cartilage tissue homogenate was decreased (both <0.01); the chondrocyte apoptosis was significantly reduced (both <0.01); the chondrocyte mitochondrial membrane potential was increased significantly (both <0.01). Moreover, the mRNA and protein expression of Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 was significantly reduced (all <0.01). Compared with the control treatment group, the treatment group was more effective in the treatment of KOA.@*CONCLUSION@#The inner-heating acupuncture could significantly improve the pathological changes of KOA rats, inhibit the apoptosis of chondrocytes, which may be closely related to the suppression of Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 expression.

Objective: Based on the color space technology of CIE-LAB,the color of vinegar-processed Corydalis Rhizoma decoction pieces was digitized,combining with the contents of 10 major alkaloids in the decoction pieces,to discuss the correlation between the color and contents of main ingredients of vinegar-processed Corydalis Rhizoma decoction pieces,and investigate the intrinsic quality difference in the decoction pieces with different color. Method: The precision colorimeter was used to determine the color parameters of vinegar-processed Corydalis Rhizoma decoction pieces;HPLC was employed to determine contents of main chemical components in the decoction pieces,which was performed on Agilent ZORBAX SB-C18 column(4.6 mm×250 mm,5 μm) with mobile phase of acetonitrile(A)-0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution(B) for gradient elution(0-10 min,5%-22%A;10-30 min,22%-25%A;30-50 min,25%-60%A;50-70 min,60%-95%A),detection wavelength of 280 nm,column temperature at 30℃ and flow rate of 1.0 mL·min-1. Result: The quality of vinegar-processed Corydalis Rhizoma decoction pieces with different color was in line with the requirement of the 2015 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia,but there were differences in the intrinsic quality between the decoction pieces.The total content of chemical components in the samples showed a positive correlation with the a*(green-red axis) and total chromatic aberration value(ΔE) in the CIE-LAB color space, and it was significantly negative correlated with L*(lightness) and b*(blue-yellow axis).In the 10 tested components,except for D-tetrahydrojatrorrhizine and tetrahydrocoptisine,contents of protopine and other 6 components were positively correlated with color,and only the content of corydaline was negatively correlated with color. Conclusion: Color analysis technology can objectively quantify the color of the decoction pieces,and can achieve a quick evaluation of quality of the decoction pieces by analyzing correlation between the color and the contents of main active ingredients.

In view of the current teaching status of Traditional Rehabilitation Methodology for rehabilitation medicine specialty in higher medical colleges and universities,combining with the knowledge of some acupoints taught in this course,we put forward some suggestions for the teaching of this course.In teaching process of acupoints knowledge,while emphasizing the importance of its anatomical location,we should also attach importance to elaborating the name of acupoints and the rich cultural contents contained in the naming process.At the same time,paying attention to induction learning and finding memory rules,combining theoretical knowledge with classmates' hands-on practice,and encouraging students to participate early in clinical practice activities,we can develop students' practical work ability.

BACKGROUND: Elastic intramedullary nail is commonly used in the treatment of fractures of children, but few studies concern the elastic intramedullary nail for treating fractures in adults. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the repair effect of elastic intramedullary nail in the treatment of 22-A fracture in forearm of adults. METHODS: From January 2015 to April 2016, a total of 21 adult patients with the 22-A fracture (35 fractures) were treated with manipulative reduction and elastic intramedullary nail fixation in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. The follow-up time was 12-18 months. Radiographs were taken and the guidance of the limb function training was given at regular intervals. The Andserson scoring system was used to evaluate the patients' forearm limb function. Fracture healing, elbow, wrist joint activity and forearm rotation were recorded. The satisfactory questionnaires were recorded. The patients were divided into three grades as satisfaction, general satisfaction and dissatisfaction; simultaneously, reasons were recorded. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) The Andserson scoring was satisfactory in 16 cases accounted for 76%, general satisfaction in 3 cases accounted for 14%, dissatisfaction in 2 cases accounted for 10%. (2) Wrist joint activity increased from (172±4)° before the operation to (181±3)° at the end of the follow-up. Elbow joint activity increased from (102±18)° before the operation to (124±13)° at the end of the follow-up. Forearm rotation activity increased from (84±11)° before the operation to (155±13)° at the end of the follow-up (P < 0.05). (3) In the follow-up of the 21 patients, 13 patients were satisfied with the result of surgery; 5 patients were generally satisfied; 2 patients were dissatisfied because the limited limb functions; and 1 patient was dissatisfied because of the nail irritability; the dissatisfaction rate accounted for 14%. (4) Elastic intramedullary nail can obtain affirmative effect in the treatment of adult 22-A fracture of the forearm; and clinical application should be based on the type of fracture.

Objective To investgate the effect of PTCH1-3'-UTR on the expression of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and analyze regulatory networks so as to indicate the function of PTCH1-3'-UTR.Methods We screened PTCH1-3'-UTR regulated lncRNAs in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) by using microarray,and validated the expression by qPCR.To explore the potential mechanisms of these lncRNAs underlying NSCLC progression,we performed GO and KEGG pathway analysis of the dysregulated lncRNAs.We also conducted a bioinformatic analysis in TCGA database to identify the association of PTCH1-3'-UTR regulated lncRNAs and the overall survival of NSCLC patients.Results The expression of seven PTCH1-3'-UTR up-regulated lncRNAs (LOC100507547,FAM41C,DOCK4-AS1,AC009305.1,KLF7-IT1,RP11-749H20.1,LINC01511) were validated by qPCR.The GO and KEGG pathway analysis of the dysregulated lncRNAs indicated that a series of biological progresses were involved in the function of PTCH1-3'-UTR regulated lncRNAs,including transcription,signal transduction,protein transport and translational elongation,and several pathways,such as calcium signaling pathway,Jak-STAT signaling pathway,p53 signaling pathway and insulin signaling pathway.Among the lncRNAs regulating PTCH1-3'-UTR,6 were shown to be associated with the overall survival of NSCLC patients.High expression of lncRNA-CDKN2BAS and FAM66D related to the probability of lower survival,while high expression of lncRNA-LINC00240,LOC400027,ABCC6P2 and FLJ10038 might have a higher probability of survival.Conclusions The study would provide an insight of the function of PTCH1-3'-UTR,and PTCH1-3'-UTR dysregulated lncRNAs may be potential prognostic biomarkers for NSCLC.

Objective To investigate the effect of pelvic position angle on the angle of acetabular prosthesis by computer navigation system.Methods Computer navigation technique was used to simulate total hip arthroplasty (THA) on the whole pelvis.The anteversion and abduction angle of acetabular prosthesis were measured when the pelvis rotated around horizontal axis,long axis and sagittal axis.Results With the increase of the angle of the pelvis on the horizontal axis,the angle of the acetabular prosthesis was linearly decreased (Y=-1.32X+1,r=-0.982,P<0.001) and the abduction angle showed a linear increase (Y=0.398X+ 3,r=0.975,P<0.001).The obliquity and abduction angle of the acetabular component increased linearly angle (Y=0.764X+2,r=0.998,P<0.001;Y=0.394X+4,r=0.975,P<0.001) with the increase of the backward inclination.With the increase of the rotation angle of the pelvis to the left in the long axis,the anteversion angle of the acetabular component increased linearly (Y=l.42X+21,r=0.985,P<0.001),and the abduction angle decreased linearly (Y=-0.67X+3,r=-0.976,P<0.001).With the increase of the fight rotation angle of the pelvis,the anteversion and abduction angle of the acetabular component showed a linear increasing trend (Y=0.75X+2,r=0.997,P<0.001;Y=3.94X+4,r=0.990,P<0.001).With the increase of the sagittal axial oblique angle of the pelvis,the antegrade angle of acetabular prosthesis increased linearly (Y=0.39X+ 19,r=-0.993,P<0.001),and the abduction angle decreased linearly (Y=-0.75X+7,r=-0.964,P<0.001).The antegrade angle of acetabular prosthesis decreased linearly (Y=-0.11X+ 11,r=-0.990,P<0.001) with the increase of the fight tilt angle of the pelvis,while the abduction angle increased linearly (Y=0.92X+4,r=0.994,P<0.001).Conclusion The change of pelvic position angle has great influence on the angle of acetabular prosthesis placement,suggesting that the different pelvic position is very important during operation.Computer navigation can reduce the influence of pelvic position angle on the angle of acetabular prosthesis placement.

To study the mechanism of injection of sinomenine (Sinomenine,SIN)into Jiaji point in the treatment of L1-L5 segment Compression of fracture spine (VCF) in rabbits.Methods:54 rabbits were randomly divided into blank control group,model group and sinomenine group (group SIN)by the random number table.All the 2 groups established L1-L5 segment VCF model except the blank control group.After molding,the SIN group was injected SIN at both sides of the L1-L5 section of the vertebral column,the model group and the blank control group were injected the same volume of physiological saline as comparison.The 3 groups were treated for 4 weeks.Fracture of vertebral bone growth differentiation factor 2 (Growth differentiation,FACTOR2,GDF2),vascular endothelial growth factor (Vascular endothelial,growth factor,VEGF) and the expression of VEGF-mRNA were determined by immunohistochemical staining method;in venous blood,activities of nitric oxide (Nitric oxide NO),super oxide dissuade (Super oxide dims,unties,SOD) and bone protection Su (OPG) were detected by ELISA;immunofluorescence was used to measure two chitosan,image analysis method was used to detect spinal bone density in L1-L5 segment,the ELISA was used to detect inflammatory factor interleukin 1 beta (IL-1 beta),IL-6 beta,beta IL-17 in the spinal disc.Results:compared with the model group,in the SIN group,VEGF,VEGFmRNA and GDF2 in L1-L5 segment of spine were highly expressed,and the bone density increased (P<0.05);two chitosan in intervertebral disc increased,IL-1beta,IL-6 beta,IL-17 beta,(P< 0.05);NO in venous blood decreased OPG,SOD increased (P<0.05),the differences were statistically significant.Conclusion:injection of SIN into Jiaji can promote the healing of VCF in L1-L5 segment in rabbits.

Oregon sued a certain American well-known supplements’agency contained illegal ingredients on Oct.22, 2015. The event presented that FDA showed the problem of the management issues on the supplement ingredients. This event also triggered the discussions about the role of supervisation and law enforcement of FDA and State government. This paper aimed to systematically analyze the related problems in such issue and tried to offer suggestion of food regulation and ingredient management to the researchers and administrators in China.

Objective:To explore value of pulsed wave (PW) and tissue synchronization imaging (TSI) evaluate cardi-ac systolic synchronization in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) .Methods:A total of 50 ICM patients were enrolled as ICM group and 35 healthy volunteers without organic heart disease were regarded as healthy control group ,PW was used to measure mitral diastolic blood flow duration/RR interval (LVFT/RR) to evaluate synchroni-zation of left atrial and left ventricular synchronization ;interventricular mechanical delay (IVMD) was measured to evaluate left and right ventricular synchronization ;TSI software was used to measure mitral annular mean systolic peak velocity (LV-Sm) ,systolic time to peak (Ts) and Ts standard deviation (Ts-SD) of all segments in order to e-valuate left ventricular systolic synchronization .Results:Compared with healthy control group ,there were signifi-cant reductions in LVFT/RR [ (44.74 ± 1.58)% vs .(41.08 ± 4.65)% ] and LV-Sm [ (9.72 ± 0.53) ms vs .(4.09 ± 1.06) ms] ,and significant rise in IVMD [ (15.51 ± 5.52) ms vs .(41.96 ± 4.20) ms] and Ts-SD [ (16.47 ± 4.16) ms vs .(34.13 ± 11.68) ms] in ICM group , P 0.05) .Conclusion:Compared with healthy control group ,left ventricular total systolic function ,left atrial&ventricular ,left&right ventricular synchronization and systolic synchronization within left ventricular significantly reduce in ICM patients .

Objective To research the incidence and etiological factors of intraocular pressure(IOP)elevation in patients in early and late postop?erative stages after vitrectomy. Methods The clinical data of 235 cases(306 eyes)who underwent vitrectomy in our hospital were respectively ana?lyzed. IOP was measured before operation,in the early postoperative stage(within 2 weeks)and in the late postoperative stage(6 months after opera?tion or longer)by non?contact tonometer. Risk factors related with ocular hypertension happened in the early and late postoperative stages were statis?tically analyzed. Results The mean average IOP before operation was 15.3 ± 4.1 mmHg for the 306 eyes. Within the follow?up period of 6?20 months(mean,14.3 months),ocular hypertension occurred in 42 eyes[incidence,13.7%;mean,31.9 ± 6.0 mmHg]in the early postoperative stage and in 12 eyes[incidence,3.9%;mean,32.1 ± 5.7 mmHg]in the late postoperative stage. Logistic regression analysis revealed that lensecto?my,scleral buckling,cyclophotocoagulation,inert gas filling,silicone oil tamponade and diabetic retinopathy were the independent risk factors of oc?ular hypertension in early postoperative stage after vitrectomy,while lensectomy,scleral buckling,pan retinal photocoagulation,silicone oil tampon?ade,diabetic retinopathy and carotid artery stenosis were the independent risk factors of ocular hypertension in late postoperative stage after vitrecto?my. In addition,cyclophotocoagulation was a protective factor of IOP in the late postoperative stage. Conclusion The risk factors of ocular hyperten?sion after vitrectomy include the intraocular gapfiller,the mode of combined operation,disease type and carotid artery stenosis. IOP elevation that happens in the late postoperative stage is more harmful. Ocular hypertension in the late postoperative stage is not associated with that in the early stage.

Objective To assess the reliability and validity of the Tree-Drawing Test in medical college students.Methods The study randomly selected 312 aged 19 to 23-year-old medical students to take part in TreeDrawing Test.In addition,a total of 275 college students were selected to receive re-test,30 days late and Pearson correlation coefficient of two tests were calculated.The three raters were invited to assess 30 trees painting score,analyzing the Kendall coefficient of concordance between the scores to verify raters' reliability; parts of students also participated in the 16PF test,SAS,SDS test,analyzing the correlation coefficient between the various test results,in order to assess the effectiveness of the Tree-Drawing Test.Results The re-test reliability in different time was 0.570-0.733 and 0.341-0.713 (P<0.05),the raters' reliability was 0.491 ~ 0.626(P<0.05),there are some correlations between Tree-Drawing Test and 16PF,SAS,SDS.Conclusion The Tree-Drawing Test has good reliability and validity; it can be applied to the detection of college students' psychological assessment and psychological problems.

Objective To investigate the effect of mechanical properties of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on finite element simulation of knee joint. MethodsA three-dimensional finite element model of knee joint including all the main tissues was reconstructed based on medical images, and the transverse isotropic hyperelasticity of ligament was considered as well. Three groups of ACL material property parameters were acquired by fitting three different experimental stress strain curves based on the same ligament constitutive equation, to compare the influence of different ACL mechanical parameters on the kinematic and biomechanical properties of knee joint. Results Different ACL mechanical properties resulted in different displacements in knee joint. With the change of ACL mechanical properties, the stress and principal strain in ACL changed a lot, while the trend of their distributions were basically the same. Conclusions The selection of different ACL experimental stress-strain curves can influence the simulating result of the finite element analysis. More attention should be paid to the determination of ACL mechanical properties, the reconstruction and validation for the finite element model of knee joint.

BackgroundRecent studies showed that diabetic retinal neuropathy is an earlier and more dangerous complication and neurotrophin has a protective effect on retina.ObjectiveThe present study was to observe the changes of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF),its receptor TrkB,signal pathway protein phosphatized extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase1/2 (p-ERK1/2) and c-fos in the retina after injection of BDNF into the vitreous in STZ induced Wistar diabetic rats.MethodsWistar rats aged 9 weeks-old were randomly divided into BDNF injection group,diabetes mellitus (DM) control group and normal control group and 20 rats for each group.STZ was intraperitoneally injected in the rats of BDNF injection group and DM control group to create the experimental DM.BDNF was intravitreously injected in the rats of BDNF group 2 weeks after administration of STZ in three-day interval for 5 times,and BSS containing O.1% bovine serum albumin (BSA) was used at the same way in the DM control group and normal control group.The retina was isolated for hybridization in situ for BDNF,and TrkB,p-ERK1/2 and c-fos.Levels in retina were detected using sandwich method ELISA.ResultsThe number of BDNF positive cells and the gray scale were lower obviously in the rat retina of DM control group than those of BDNF injection group and normal control group,showing significant differences among the 3 groups ( F =102.36,92.55 ;P<0.05 ).ELISA assay showed that TrkB,p-ERK1/2 and c-fos values in retina were statistically significantly different among the 3 groups ( F =92.54,95.46,94.84,P<0.05 ).The TrkB level in retina was statistically reduced,but the p-ERK1/2 and c-fos levels in retina were increased statistically in DM control group compared with BDNF injection group and normal control group( P<0.05 ).No statistical difference was found in TrkB,p-ERK1/2 and c-fos values between the BDNF injection group and normal control group(P>0.05).ConclusionsThe injection of BDNF into the vitreous cavity can protect retina from downregulating BDNF and TrkB levels and up-regulating the p-ERK1/2 and c-fos protein levels in the early stage of DM.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the effects of sodium on rat osteoblast function and explore the role of epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) in such effects.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The proliferation and differentiation of rat osteoblasts were evaluated following treatment with 1×10(-4) mol/L to 1 mol/L Na(+). The mRNA expressions of the osteogenic genes and ENaC-α gene in the treated cells were assessed using RT-PCR.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Within the concentration of 1×10(-4) mol/L to 1 mol/L, Na(+) showed a two-way effect on the osteoblasts: low-concentration Na(+) (1×10(-4) mol/L) significantly promoted osteoblast differen- tiation, while at higher concentrations (0.5 and 1 mol/L), Na(+) produced an opposite effect. Sodium did not significantly affect osteoblast proliferation. Low-concentration Na(+) significantly increased the transcription of Cbfa1, OPN and OC, while high concentrations of Na(+) decreased their transcription. Low-concentration Na(+) also enhanced the mRNA expression of ENaC-α, but high-concentration Na(+) treatment lowered ENaC-α mRNA expression.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Na(+) displays a direct dose-related effect on osteoblasts by affecting its differentiation, osteogenic gene expression profile, and ENaC-α gene expression, suggesting the involvement of ENaC in Na(+)-mediated functional modulation of rat osteoblasts.</p>

AIM:To explore the potentially beneficial clinical effects of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) combined with photocoagulation for diabetic retinopathy(DR).METHODS:Chinese patients with DR were divided into two groups. A joint treatment group received both the TCM ziyinliangxuesanyutang and photocoagulation, while a control group received only photocoagulation laser treatment. Visual acuity tests, visual field retinal sensitivity tests, and fundus fluorescein angiography (to measure neovascular regression) were performed. Vision was compared between the two groups 1 month, 6, and 12 months after treatment.RESULTS:Twelve months after treatment, the recovery of visual acuity (62.3% vs 43.1%, P=0.037) and retinal sensitivity \[17.0±3.7 decibels (dB) vs 14.9±3.7dB, P=0.002\] as well as neovascular regression (67.2% vs 48.3%, P=0.036) in the joint treatment group were all significantly greater than that of the control group.CONCLUSION:Compared with laser treatment alone, the joint application of TCM and photocoagulation is shown to be more effective than DR treatment method.

Objective Functional constipation (FC) is a common complaint in childhood but the prevalence still remains unclear, the aim of this study was to explore the prevalence of FC in childhood in the northern parts of China. Methods A screening program on FC in childhood was carried out in 5 northern cities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin) of China according to symptoms under the Rome Ⅲ criteria. Random clustered sampling of the inhabitants was carried out under stratification of cities, geographic zones, schools or nurseries.Sample size of each area was in proportion to the population of the area. The range of age was 4-14. All subjects under study were requested to fill in a questionnaire distributed by the teachers. The screening program was carried out immediately after a section survey was completed. All together, 20 000 questionnaires were distributed with 19 638 retrievals. According to the result of the screening, a small number of patients who met the criteria were further selected to undergo a detailed clinical examination in the hospital including laboratory examination, colonic transit time, defecography or/and barium enema, electromyologram and anorectal manometry to exclude organic disease of the colon. Simultaneously, a detailed questionnaire was requested to fill under the assistance of trained doctors or medical students.Prevalence of FC of the population was adjusted by the rate of correct diagnosis from the detailed study. Results The adjusted point prevalence of FC in 5 northern cities of China according to Rome Ⅲ criteria was 4.73% with higher prevalence rate of FC seen in the Beijing area (5.02%) than in other cities (4.82%, 4.76%, 4.27%, 4.40%, with P<0.001 ). Male to female ratio was 1.26:1 with majority of the FC fell in the 4-6 year olds (5.76%). Conclusion FC appeared a common disorder in childhood in the northern parts of China which called for greater attention. Higher prevalence was noted in the age groups of 4-6.
